In case you haven’t noticed, this blog has a theme! See that little sheep shaped like a letter ‘o’ running about the top of the screen? That’s my mascot. His name is Baa. That’s easy to remember. He will remind you about my Baa values as well. Anyway, to show you guys how serious I am about this blog, I even asked my girlfriend, an aspiring female designer, to create a logo for me.

The Theme
Yes, it’s a sheep theme. "Baa.. baa.. black sheep, have you any wool?" (Sheepish grin).

My Source of Inspiration
I was reading this book on Neuro-linguistic Programming by Tony Robbins, "Unlimited Power", when I came across a line in which he talked about how most of us often led our lives moving along with the herd. That nailed it.

Introducing the Main Characters
I believe that in life, each of us belong to one of these three groups of people.
1) The Herd
If you are someone here, you belong to the crowd, the masses. You are a trend follower. You like the sense of security of sticking together with others like you. You may have aspirations, but you tend to be caught within your own fences – your limiting beliefs.

You tell yourself one of the following:
"I’m never gonna make it big."
"Top salesperson for 3 consecutive months? Impressive! If only I’m half as good as him."
"Me? CEO of this company? That is so impossible."
"I’m happy as long as I’m paid each month."
"I wish I could be amazing like Adam. He’s a millionaire by 26. I’m nobody."
Ever heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy? You let yourself be manipulated by external influences. To you, life is about living "as it is".

2) The Shepherd
Someone here will have attained a certain level of authority and a measurable amount of success. You are in control.

You are one who rears the sheep. They are at your mercy. Or so you thought. You might be a top manager, or a CEO of a multinational company. However, you are restrained by the herd as much as they are by you. You are constantly living with the fear of losing your sheep. You just don’t realize. Somewhere in the process of achieving success, you got lost. You lost sight of what’s important to you and blindly guard the herd that you painstakingly raised.

3) The Lost One
Adventurous and courageous. You are a trend starter. You like to bend the rules. Not the laws, mind you. You are able to break through your own limiting beliefs and fears by jumping over the fence. And you are a source of inspiration.

For that one leap you made, you are now able to taste the greens of far bigger pastures and live a life without regrets. People used to call you the lost sheep, the dropout. Now, who’s the lost one here?

And My Point?
The point that I’ll like to drive across is this. If you want to be lost, be lost with style. Like the Lost One. Don’t be mistaken here. By calling him lost, it just means that he’s a lost sheep from the herd. He’s not directionless. He has a plan – to reach the bigger and greener pastures. What’s your take from here? To be part of the herd? The shepherd. Or… The Lost One?

I thought that my first post should tell you something more about myself. Why did I start this blog? What kind of a person am I? Am I one of those get-rich-quick guys building some fake blog to earn some quick bucks? Or just another frustrated kid rambling about how depressing life is? Let me tell you.

So.. who am I?
Hi! I’m Daniel, not Danielle. So I’m a guy. I just graduated from a local university and I live in Singapore. Some people don’t even know that this country existed. If you are one of them, you just learned something new! Go google it!

What do I do for a living?
A full-time software engineer and part-time tutor.

A bit about my family background?
A simple, mediocre family. We make just enough to get by. There’s always food in my stomach. For that, I’m grateful. But I’m not satisfied with what I’m bringing back home to the family each month. This dissatisfaction is what drives me to do more.

What kind of a person am I?
Sounds deep. You’ll find out as you read my blog.

What are my interests?
My number one love has got to be music. I like to sing and play on the guitar. In fact, I love it so much that I’ll be starting my music blog soon together with a friend.

I love art too. Drawing cartoons used to be something I do quite often in the past. In fact, the little illustrations that you see in this blog are all drawn by me using a Wacom tablet.

I love the sun, the sand and the sea too! I like to sweat it out, play some basketball or soccer, or just run. I’m a manga addict and I love watching animes. Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Defense Devil, Hajime no Ippo and so on, I read them all. Travelling is a passion but I don’t do that often. I like to see things work out too. Oh. And matchmaking is one of my interests. Got a girlfriend? Or boyfriend? Need some help? Haha.

Why did I start this blog? The REAL reason.
You were right. I’m some frustrated kid who’s gonna bitch about life… NOT! It all started when I took up a short internship at Infineon Technologies shortly after graduation. I was feeling lost and unsure of where I’m heading, until I met a cool boss who taught me well, forced me to pick up reading and got me all hyped up to succeed in life. Hence, through this blog, I hope to do the same, reach out to more people and inspire them to succeed in life.

Let’s walk the talk now…
So, that was a short introduction to myself. Right now, I’m at the starting point and I’m still learning how to go about doing this. If you are like me, yearning to achieve something in life but have not done so, I urge you to join me in this journey. We’ll grope around. We’ll listen to the experts. We’ll make mistakes. We’ll go through emotional ups and downs. But we won’t give up.

If you are someone who is already successful and have a story to share, feel free to do so. I’ll be doing up my contact form soon on this page. Right now, everything is still under construction. But it won’t stay this way for long.

Finally, I’ll like to end off this post with a quote from someone I respect a lot.

"Do not wait; the time will never be just right. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along." – Napolean Hill
